Abstract

This perspective paper discusses several key revelations relating to generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and its relevance to the fields of English and applied linguistics. The article proposes a number of research initiatives and areas for further study, while envisioning the future of the Journal of English and Applied Linguistics in the GenAI era.
