About This Journal

The Journal of English and Applied Linguistics (JEAL) is a semiannual open-access journal that publishes high-quality research addressing debates and current issues in applied linguistics.

JEAL is managed by the De La Salle University Publishing House (DLSUPH) and hosted on De La Salle University's Animo Repository, its institutional scholarly database hosted by Elsevier's Digital Commons network.

Editorial Policy

Peer Review

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by two anonymous reviewers. JEAL does not accept commercial promotions, sponsored content, or third-party advertisements. Editorial decisions are strictly independent of commercial or institutional revenue.

Publication Cycle

Issues are published every June and December each year. Turnaround time is approximately 6-7 months (~200 days). This encompasses the submission period to final publication, including desk review and peer review stages.

Access and Fees

Open Access

No embargo period; all content is freely accessible without registration. All articles are published under the CC BY 4.0 License. This license allows use, sharing, adaptation, distribution, and reproduction in any medium or format, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s).

No APC

JEAL does not have an article processing charge (APC); accepted papers are published free of charge.

Archiving

  • All articles are archived in Animo Repository via Elsevier's Digital Commons.
  • As of October 6, 2025, JEAL has formally submitted a request for inclusion in the Internet Archive Scholar. Based on their standard processing timeline, the archiving may take at least three months before journal content begins appearing in their index.
