Abstract
The use of illegal drugs has been rampant in the society, it has been one of the major problems local government and school communities have waged war against. It has been a roller coaster ride of a battle and the end seems so far way. Prohibited drugs have literary destroyed the lives and dreams of individuals and society.
In many ways, the school community is not safe from the selling and distribution of illegal prohibited drugs. There is a perception around campus that buying and obtaining illegal drugs is as easy as buying lunch and the distribution is rampant.
Research suggests that there are so many factors and characteristics that influence students to take or try illegal drugs. Who are they? How do they influence? What are the risks involved? Do they know about the risks? Research will try to answer the questions. (Petraitis, J., and Flay, B.R, 1995).
The study investigates why students and their school friends keep on buying and using illegal drugs despite all the warnings and educational materials telling students the risks of those drugs. The study reveals that there are several factors students think and believe that lead them in taking illegal drugs. The study also shows that students believe the school is not doing enough to fight illegal drugs.
