Abstract (English)
Within Educational Psychology, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks recognize Social and Emotional Competencies (SECs) as important for effective teaching; however, existing frameworks are largely grounded in secular perspectives and may not fully reflect Islamic educational contexts. This study explored the Islamic SECs of Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) teachers and developed the Islamic Social and Emotional Competencies for Teachers Scale (ISECT-Scale) based on an Islamic conceptualization of SECs. Using a Sequential Exploratory Mixed Methods Design, the preliminary item pool was developed from five Islamic interpretations of SECs identified through interviews with seven Islamic scholars and contextualized through ALIVE teachers’ responses. Following expert review and pilot testing, the 50-item preliminary pool was administered to 220 ALIVE teachers in Region XII, Philippines. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) using Maximum Likelihood extraction with Promax rotation yielded a 32-item, three-factor exploratory structure consisting of Islamic Collective Ethics (14 items), Spiritual Self-Discipline (11 items), and Moral Decision-Making (7 items), explaining 63.6% of the total variance. The three factors demonstrated good internal consistency, with Cronbach’s alpha coefficients ranging from .853 to .876. ALIVE teachers reported very high levels of Islamic SECs, with Moral Decision-Making receiving the highest rating. Most demographic characteristics showed no statistically significant differences across the three factors; however, years of teaching experience and position in the ALIVE program were significantly associated with Moral Decision-Making. Integration of the qualitative and quantitative findings showed that Social Awareness and Relationship Skills converged into Islamic Collective Ethics, Self-Awareness and Self-Management converged into Spiritual Self-Discipline, while Responsible Decision-Making remained distinct as Moral Decision-Making. Overall, the findings refined the initial five-domain qualitative conceptualization into three empirically organized dimensions while preserving its Islamic conceptual foundation. The resulting 32-item ISECT-Scale provides an exploratory, culturally responsive measure for further research on Islamic SECs in Islamic educational settings.

Sa larangan ng Sikolohiyang Pang-edukasyon, kinikilala ng mga balangkas ng Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) ang Social and Emotional Competencies (SECs) bilang mahahalagang kakayahan para sa epektibong pagtuturo. Gayunpaman, karamihan sa mga umiiral na balangkas ay nakabatay sa sekular na pananaw at maaaring hindi ganap na tumugon sa konteksto ng edukasyong Islamiko. Sinuri ng pag-aaral na ito ang mga Islamic SECs ng mga guro sa Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) at binuo ang Islamic Social and Emotional Competencies for Teachers Scale (ISECT-Scale) batay sa Islamikong konseptuwalisasyon ng SECs. Ginamit ang Sequential Exploratory Mixed Methods Design. Ang paunang item pool ay binuo mula sa limang Islamikong interpretasyon ng SECs na natukoy sa pamamagitan ng mga panayam sa pitong iskolar ng Islam at binigyang-konteksto batay sa mga tugon ng mga guro sa ALIVE. Nagpakita ang tatlong salik ng mahusay na panloob na pagkakapare-pareho, na may mga koepisyenteng Cronbach’s alpha na mula .853 hanggang .876. Iniulat ng mga guro ng ALIVE ang napakataas na antas ng Islamic SECs, kung saan nakakuha ng pinakamataas na pagtataya ang Moral Decision-Making. Karamihan sa mga katangiang demograpiko ay hindi nagpakita ng makabuluhang pagkakaiba sa tatlong salik; gayunpaman, ang haba ng karanasan sa pagtuturo at posisyon sa programa ng ALIVE ay makabuluhang nauugnay sa Moral Decision-Making. Ipinakita ng integrasyon ng mga kwalitatibo at kwantitatibong resulta na ang Social Awareness at Relationship Skills ay nagtagpo sa Islamic Collective Ethics, ang Self-Awareness at Self-Management ay nagtagpo sa Spiritual Self-Discipline, samantalang ang Responsible Decision-Making ay nanatiling natatanging dimensyon bilang Moral Decision-Making. Sa pangkalahatan, pinino ng mga natuklasan ang paunang limang-dimensiyong kwalitatibong konseptuwalisasyon tungo sa tatlong dimensiyong organisado batay sa empirikal na ebidensiya, habang pinananatili ang Islamikong pundasyong konseptuwal nito. Ang nabuong 32-item na ISECT-Scale ay nagbibigay ng isang eksploratibo at sensitibong panukat sa kultura para sa mga susunod na pag-aaral hinggil sa Islamic SECs sa mga kontekstong pang-edukasyong Islamiko.
