Abstract (English)
LIT Club serves as a pioneering exploration into the realm of a new subgenre of fanfiction called social media Alternate Universes (AUs), specifically positioning them as a contemporary form of literature. Compared to other forms of literature, fanfiction is considerably young and still needs more acceptance from some scholars. As an emerging form of fanfiction, social media AUs are receiving the same treatment as fan fiction in its early days.
Thus, the proponents hope to bridge a notable gap in academic discourse, introducing and dissecting the unique characteristics of AUs as a noteworthy evolution within the broader spectrum of fan fiction studies. The short film LIT Club takes place in an alternate universe where this debate is a huge deal for the characters, a determiner of their fate as a club.
The mockumentary has two driving concepts. The central concept is social media AUs as an emerging form of storytelling and the ongoing debate surrounding its validity as a form of literature. The second concept is about friendship among passionate individuals and how they overcome challenges together.
