Abstract (English)

Queer identity has often been judged, stereotyped and intentionally misrepresented to further enable these misconceptions people have against those in the LGBTQIA+ community. While society has slowly been more accepting of queer individuals, the difference lies between tolerance and acceptance wherein people simply half-heartedly ‘accept’ this community without getting to know who these people are.

Rainbow Street offers an unfiltered, authentic glimpse at the lives of queer individuals, offering a transparent view at the lives and relationships people from the LGBTQIA+ community foster. These people have their own battles, their own stories to tell that people have dismissed all because of a label. Through this documentary series, Rainbow Street aims to abolish these dismissing labels, giving more depth to those who are shunned by society and embracing love and acceptance in every story.

The use of animated rainbows and colorful aesthetic provide a bright and cheery atmosphere while experiencing the stories of the subjects. This provides a safe space to the viewer, as well as making them feel more comfortable with whose story they are listening to.

The name Rainbow Street pays homage to how everyone often goes through different roads in life. The various colors present in the rainbow represent the different paths of life, coming together in one street. While we all differ in our experiences and the stories we have about our lives, at the end of the day, all our roads will come together as one.

Ang identidad ng isang taong queer ay madalas na hinuhusgahan at pinag-estereotipo para lamang higit pang paganahin ang mga maling akala na ito ng mga tao laban sa mga nasa LGBTQIA+ na komunidad. Bagama't dahan-dahang mas tinatanggap ng lipunan ang mga taong ito, ang pagkakaiba ay nasa pagitan ng pagpaparaya at pagtanggap kung saan ang mga tao ay hindi parin nakakaintindi o nakaka-alam kung sino talaga ang mga taong ito.

Nag-aalok ang Rainbow Street ng isang tunay na tingin ng mga relasyon at buhay ng mga taong LGBTQIA+. Ang mga taong ito ay may sari-sariling mga buhay at mga kwento na ibinasura ng mga tao dahil sa isang pagpapalagay. Sa pamamagitan nitong documentary series, nilalayon ng Rainbow Street na tanggalin ang mga tatak na meron ng mga tao at magbigay linaw sa mga kwento nila, at ang halaga ng pagmamahal at pagtanggap.

Ang paggamit ng makulay na bahaghari at estetik nagbibigay ng maliwanag at masayang kapaligiran habang dinaranas ang mga kuwento ng mga paksa. Nagbibigay ito sa manonood ng ligtas na espasyo, pati na rin ang pagpaparamdam sa kanila ang mga kwento na pinakikinggan nila.

Ang pangalang Rainbow Street ay nagbibigay-pugay sa paano madalas dumaan ang bawat isa sa iba't ibang kalsada sa buhay. Ang iba't ibang kulay na naroroon sa bahaghari ay kumakatawan sa iba't ibang landas ng buhay, na nagsasama-sama sa isang kalye. Bagama't lahat tayo ay magkakaiba sa ating mga karanasan at sa mga kwentong mayroon tayo tungkol sa ating buhay, sa dulo ng atin buhay ay tayo’y makaka-isa bilang isa.
