Abstract (English)
This thesis explores the persisting struggles of transgender parents as they navigate their parenthood and identity through a narrative short film. There is no denying the significant progress in terms of queer acceptance in society. However, without sufficient information to better understand these identities, especially with media portrayals marred with misconceptions, discrimination prevails. Thus, with an evident lack of proper queer representation in media and society, queer identities are often reduced into harmful stereotypes.
Para Kay Mama then offers a unique perspective on queer identities, particularly the complexities in the lives of transgender mothers. The film is centered on the relationship between a transgender woman and her biological son as they traverse a transitional stage in their lives. It showcases the nuanced experiences of these women as they face challenges brought upon by their journey of self-discovery while treading the hardships of parenthood, especially in a hateful society. It also tackles the social implications of such experiences on family dynamics.
The story itself was crafted in close collaboration with members of the transgender community, trans women and mothers alike, to ensure an accurate and genuine portrayal of these experiences. The film focuses on more positive aspects of these identities such as resilience, connection, and hope to illustrate how queerness should be celebrated, not grieved.

Ang tesis na ito ay nakasentro sa mga paghihirap na hinaharap ng mga transgender na magulang sa kanilang pagtuklas ng sariling pagkakakilanlan habang tumatayong magulang sa kanilang mga anak sa pamamagitan ng isang maikling naratibong pelikula. Hindi maipagkakaila ang malawakang pagtanggap ng queer identities sa lipunan sa kasalukuyan. Gayunpaman, dahil sa kakulangan ng impormasyon patungkol dito, lalo na sa maling paglalarawan o pagpapahayag ng midya, patuloy na nananaig ang diskriminasyon. Sa gayon, malinaw na ang kawalan ng angkop na queer na representasyon sa midya at lipunan ay nagreresulta muling pagkakahon ng kanilang pagkakakilanan sa mga mapinsalang stereotype.
Nagbibigay ang Para Kay Mama ng panibagong perspektibo sa mga queer identities, partikular sa masalimuot na pamumuhay ng mga transgender na ina. Ang pelikula na ito ay umiikot sa relasyon ng isang transgender na ina at ang kanyang biyolohikal na anak habang hinaharap ang panibagong yugto sa kanilang buhay. Ipinapakita ng pelikula ang mga karanasan ng kababaihan sa kanilang pagharap sa mga paghamon buhat ng pagtuklas sa sarili at pagtahak sa pagiging isang magulang, lalo na sa mapanlinlang na lipunan. Tinatalakay din dito ang implikasyong panlipunan pagdating sa kulturang pangpamilya.
Ang kwento na ito ay nilikha kasama mismo ang mga kabilang sa transgender community, lalo na ang mga kababaihang transgender at ina, upang magkaroon ng tiyak at makabuluhang paglalarawan sa kanilang mga karanasan. Ang pelikulang ito ay nakatuon sa mga positibong aspeto ng ganitong pagkakakilanlan tulad ng katatagan, koneksyon, at pag-asa upang ipahiwatig na ang pagiging transgender, ina, o bading ay marapat na ipagdiriwang, hindi ipagdalamhati.
