Abstract/Summary

The study aims to systematically plan, organize and propose a high school Faculty Development Program for Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy based on the teachers' needs and the school's resources. This study used the descriptive survey method of research. Twenty eight high school teachers of OLSHA were taken as respondents of this study. The data gathered included the profile of the high school teachers, present status of the school's faculty development program and the perceived personal and professional development needs of the teachers. Interviews with the faculty members, acting principal and other school personnel were also conducted. The main research instruments used in this study were the Teacher Information Sheet and Assessment Survey Form designed, validated and used by Nacional (1981), as well as a modified Faculty Development Needs Inventory, designed and validated by David (1977) and Pagaling (1980). Based on the findings of the study, it was found that majority of the high school teachers of OLSHA were qualified to teach in the high school. It was also found that the present faculty development program of the school was not systematically planned and organized with only the administrators involved in the planning process. All the personal and professional needs listed in the questionnaire were perceived to be much needed by the high school teachers with varying degrees. However, the perceived needs of the teachers were more personal than professional in nature.
