Abstract/Summary

This study attempts to describe the socio-economic profile of the high school students of St. Augustines Academy in Patnongon, Antique. It is confined to determining the socio-economic profile of the students in relation to school planning. The respondents used are the secondary students of St. Augustines Academy, Patnongon, Antique, for the school year 1978-1979. Descriptive and normative survey method, were used to determine the socio-economic conditions of the students. The questionnaire technique and the socio-economic survey formulated by the researcher were employed. The factors considered in the questionnaire were divided into two categories. First, was information about the students social conditions: status, place, the distance of the house from the school, the pocket money received from parents and the like. Second, was the information about the family of the respondents which determined their social economic status that is, those which indicate family income, parents occupation, housing conveniences, property, participation in civic and religious organizations. Responses to the questionnaire were tabulated according to the categories, and the percentage values were computed. Tables and figures were drawn up to show the various socio-economic values. The study showed that most of the families of the students of St. Augustines Academy have higher income based on the levels of income in the province of Antique.
