Abstract/Summary

The purpose of this study was to discover the problems and concerns, pastoral care needs of Saint John Cathedral Church parishioners of four age brackets on both sexes in Chiayi City, Taiwan. The subjects of this study were 307 SJCC parishioners whose age range was 13 years old and above on both sexes. The Mooney Problem Checklist and SJCC Parishioners Pastoral Care Needs Checklist were used to determine SJCC parishioners' predominant problems pastoral care needs. For statistical treatment, frequency, percentage, and rank were employed. The findings of this study were:1) In general, the predominant problem areas which bothered SJCC parishioners were in Personal-Psychological Relations Health and Physical Development Social-Psychological Relations Social and Recreational Activities Adjustment to School Work. The pastoral care needs of SJCC parishioners that the parish may stress to meet their needs were personal counseling faith education guidance in family, marriage, and child education occupational care and home visitation. One of the recommendations the researcher has made is that SJCC needs to organize pastoral guidance program and stress its pastoral care to serve parishioners' problems and needs.
