Abstract/Summary
This research aimed to propose a model of an effective public secondary school in the Division of Cavite.
The specific objectives are: 1. To identify the characteristics of an effective public secondary school. 2. To determine the performance levels of an effective public secondary school.
RESULTS. The results of this research reveal the following: 1. The school vision/mission is clear and focused on the students and their needs. 2. Both principals and teachers have good qualification on their respective positions. 3. Physical facilities and environment are conducive to teaching-learning process. 4. Majority of the students have an outstanding performance.
CONCLUSIONS. 1. The teachers and principals are highly qualified to perform their assigned task. 2. The principals provide appropriate and a adequate supervision and participation that is collegial. 3. Majority of the students are performing very well in English, Science and Mathematics which is also reflected in their over-all academic performance. 4. In general, the schools are performing very well as indicated by achievement scores and performance in national examination.
RECOMMENDATIONS. 1. The school Vision/Mission should be clear and focused to the students and their needs. 2. Schools Division Superintendent, principals and teachers should be held accountable for the development of an effective public secondary school. 3. Principals and teachers should continue a life-long professional development.
