Abstract/Summary

The La Salle Greenhills Grade School Registrar's Office is involved in maintaining the academic records of La Salle elementary graduates and undergraduates. Its functions vary from accepting applicants for different grade levels, strict and continuous monitoring of student files as it passes from different LS administrators, processing of various transactions from different individuals such as generation of reports submitted to the Education department, evaluation of transcripts for transferring students and inquiry reports for the parents. Aside from the assigned Registrar duties, the office handles different auxiliary services such as mimeographing, employee evaluation for personnel under the Registrar's department, yearly evaluation of student academic performance and as an assistant to the Elementary Assistant Principal for different reports as requested by the head administrator. The group conducted an in-depth analysis of how the system operates. From the observed processes involved in the Registrar system, certain areas were identified as problem areas that prevents the current system from maintaining an information system that would cope up with the present information demands and standards. From the problems identified in the analysis, various designs were outlined and evaluated. The proposed ROIS was developed using the resources from the existing system that is geared to address user's information needs on the IT industry at the lowest possible cost. ROIS is capable of handling the records of all the students in the Elementary dept. while maintaining

the files of LS graduates. The proposed ROIS includes under its features processing of different kinds of reports including answers to various queries. The system was created using a 386 CPU unit using a 5th generation database language, Clipper. The system will be implemented at the Registrar's Office in La Salle Greenhills Elementary department, Quezon City.
