Abstract/Summary
This paper explores the effect of personal profile, professional profile, organizational culture and leadership style on the performance of accountancy faculty members teaching in universities/schools situated in Metro Manila.
Using self-administered questionnaires, the researchers examined which particular factors under each category had a direct or indirect relationship with the performance evaluation level that the respondents disclosed. A clustered sampling technique was employed to collect data from schools and universities situated in Metro Manila that had an existing accountancy program.
Findings indicated that only personal profile, professional profile, and the leadership style of the immediate superiors significantly impacted the performance of the faculty members, while organizational culture exhibited to having no significant impact. Educational attainment, length of service, other professional involvements (particularly publications) and level of satisfaction on the leadership of an academic head proved to have a direct relationship with the performance a faculty member may provide. A Laissez-Faire type of leadership was deemed to have a negative relationship with faculty performance.
This study aims to assist academic heads, the faculty members themselves, government and regulatory bodies, students, as well as future researchers, to understand on a deeper level, what factors may or may not affect a faculty member's performance so as to innovate the future of education with regards to how efficient and effective faculty members impart relevant and necessary knowledge.
