Abstract/Summary
The introduction of microcomputers had been used to minimize space and labor to a great extent in almost any field of work a person might engage in. Before, the Apple II microcomputer was widely used. Today, there is another one that dominates most homes, schools, factories, hospitals, and offices, which is the IBM microcomputers. This project illustrates the application of an IBM microcomputer in a particular field of electronic instrumentation. Transducers are used to measure the physical quantities such as temperature and pressure, and convert them into electrical signals, which afterwards are entered into a signal-conditioning device. The modified transducer outputs are passed through an analog-to-digital converter which has a built-in multiplexer which is then interfaced with the microcomputer. In the near future, more advanced and powerful microcomputers will be developed and this may correspond to better instrumentation systems. But this project may be of great help at the present time, not only to industrial firms, but to individual experimenters as well. It may also be a good basis for future works.
