Abstract/Summary
The compressive and splitting tensile strength of concrete, and the compressive and flexural strength of cement mortar, mixed using different brands of Type 1 port-land cement, was experimentally investigated. Four portland cement brands were used in the experiment and it is designated as brands A, B, C, and D. The physical properties of portland cement was also taken into considerations such as fineness, consistency, specific gravity, time of setting and strength. For the test done in concrete and cement mortar, three specimens were made for each test age. The specimens were prepared on three separate batches. For the physical properties of cement, there were three trials made. The average values obtained from the test done was taken as the final result.
