Abstract/Summary
The growth of Brassica juncea L. Czern and Brassica chinensis L. in a mixture of volcanic cinder and charcoal treated with different nutrient solutions namely Hoagland's solution, 14N-14P-14K and water were examined. The number, length and width of the representative leaves were observed under the different treatments such as volcanic cinder / charcoal + water, volcanic cinder / charcoal + 14-14-14 fertilizer and volcanic cinder / charcoal + Hoagland's solution and days of observation. A control group which consisted of plants grown in soil treated with water was also included.
The results in volcanic cinder / charcoal + 14-14-14 and volcanic cinder / charcoal + Hoagland's solution are not statistically different in the number of leaves produced but are significantly different in terms of leaf size.
