Abstract/Summary

American Standard Inc. is currently the market leader in the vitreous china industry and it aims to contribute to its development. This manufacturing company is likewise involved in the exporting type of business. The firm's spraying department is at present, experiencing an increase in labor cost due to the occurrence of allowable delays. After doing the necessary analyses, the proponents of the system study were able to determine the main causes of the problem, and identified them as: 1 Green Ware Inpector, Wares delay, Clogged Conveyor, and Low Air Pressure. The study team proposes that these problems be solved through Flexing, maintenance, acquisition of compressor heads and pressure gauges. Naturally, there will be a minimal amount of cash outlay due to the acquisition costs. However, this bettered system will definitely benefit the company since it will reduce the chances of occurring allowable delays which highly affects the qualiflex pay, thus the labor cost. Quantitatively, a total cost savings of 118,625 pesos per year will be realized. The NPV of this system will have an initial cash outflow of 19,750 pesos for the acquisition of the compressor heads and pressure gauges, while an annual savings of 19,942 pesos will be achieved. Meanwhile, the payback period for this project will be 12 months or 1 year. The feasibility of high technology equipment or computerized systems will likewise be recommended for further study.
