Abstract/Executive Summary
This study uses a mixed-method to assess the effectiveness of the digital interactive map (Project TRACE) in enhancing Grade 7 students' historical awareness and campus navigation of De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ). Through a quasi-experimental design, quantitative data are collected from the pre- and post-test administered via Wayground multiple-choice quiz and collects data on student user experience using a 5-point Likert scale survey. Additionally, qualitative data from focus group discussions to explore student engagement, usability, and perceptions of the map’s educational value. Using JavaScript, Leaflet, and Mapbox, the interactive map is created to integrate historical timelines and key campus landmarks, fostering a deeper connection and preservation of the school's heritage. Statistical analysis using paired sample t-tests of quantitative data and thematic analysis of qualitative data determine the map’s impact on the changes of students' learning outcomes, navigation competence, and heritage appreciation. With this, the study shows the effectiveness of the digital map in student engagement while purposefully promoting cultural preservation, making it relevant and accessible in the current times. The researchers suggest improvements for the future, such as the limitation of the map development, the longevity of the intervention period, and user interface.
