Abstract
This study analyzes the export patterns of Hawaii to Japan in the agricultural sector over the period 1995-2008. Analysis is based on the normalized revealed comparative advantage index. Findings show that Hawaii is losing its competitiveness in the Japanese market in some of its traditional agricultural products and diversified crops, but gaining competitiveness in some relatively new and non-traditional export products. In light of the empirical evidence, some policy implications are drawn.
