Abstract

Technological advances nowadays make it possible for rural areas to be connected to the internet. More and more people are putting their business online just to remain competitive. Others use the internet to collaborate with their partners. There are big cooperatives that has established their web presence. How about the small cooperatives such as farmers' cooperatives and transport cooperatives? How could they benefit from the technological advances. This paper discusses the conceptualization of a generic multipurpose cooperative information systems, its status and a recommended framework for its sustainability.
