Abstract
This study explores how Lesson Study intimates a forcible mechanism towards the achievement of competency standards for pre-service teacher education in the Philippines. Being a part of a larger phenomenological study, it seeks to explicate the affordances and constraints of replicating Lesson Study in the Philippine context. An observation of a Lesson Study, interviews, and analysis of artifacts were undertaken in the desire to illustrate how the practice could potentially facilitate the achievement of competency standards for pre-service teacher education in the Philippines
