Abstract

Statistical pitfalls and misuses committed by people abound, sometimes done deliberately but often unintentionally. This paper presents some of the most frequent pitfalls and misuses of statistics. Such misuses are broadly classified into those committed in the (1) data collection, (2) data analysis, and (3) results' interpretation stage of a typical investigation. Examples are provided to illustrate these misuses. Ways on how to avoid and remedy such misuses are likewise presented.
