Abstract/Summary

Professional development is an integral aspect in the continuity and sustainability of human capital within a company, more so in the IT services sector. The study intended to resolve the issues with succession continuity seen through erosion in operations tranquility by exploring the gaps in the professional development strategies of Application Management Services Client Delivery Management department of DXC Technology Philippines, one of the biggest IT service providers. Based on action research steps and methods of inquiries employed, a professional development strategy was successfully implemented based on a framework borrowed from Romijn et.al and integration with IT-standard practices. The establishment of the department’s own PD strategy proved to be effective in identifying the needed structure in achieving the desired disposition of the target employees through the path of succession by unlocking the value of 41.75 learning hours. Evaluation tools showed significant improvements in the succession pipeline’s skills based on compliance in learning hours against the curated development plan, with an average of additional 13.20 learning hours per learner. As part of continual improvement, further investigation on optimal learning modes and approaches is necessary for sustained adoption of the PD strategy. The study can be used as basis for further improvement in the workforce management of the company and as a reference for the IT industry in carrying out continued human capital development.
