Abstract (English)

This Action Research report presents the results of the qualitative, phenomenological research on play-based learning in a private school using the Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) framework. By focusing on the implementation and evaluation phases of this framework, the research revealed that the school’s application of play-based learning approach through its teachers has enabled curriculum compliance, while stimulating student creativity along with maintaining learner engagement and motivation. However, play-based performance outcomes are not fully realized due to a host of issues such as large class sizes; materials and resource limitations; curriculum and administrative pressures; teacher capacity and capabilities; parental and institutional influences; lack of assessment and documentation procedures, among others. With quantitative assessment results yielding both positive and negative outcomes with its play-based learning activities, the school should improve and strengthen the analytical, design, and development facets in the ADDIE framework to come up with more impactful play based learning in the classroom. These include reducing class sizes, providing resources and safe play spaces, enhancing teacher training, balancing academic and play time, establishing more authentic assessment strategies, engaging parents in the process, and strengthening policy and research support.

Ipinapakita ng ulat na ito ng Action Research ang mga resulta ng husay (qualitative) at penomenolohikal (phenomenological) na pananaliksik tungkol sa play-based learning (pagkatuto sa pamamagitan ng paglalaro) sa isang pribadong paaralan gamit ang balangkas ng Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE). Sa pamamagitan ng pagtutuon sa mga yugto ng pagpapatupad (implementation) at pagtatasa (evaluation) ng balangkas na ito, ipinakita ng pananaliksik na ang paglalapat ng paaralan sa pamamaraang play-based learning sa pamamagitan ng mga guro nito ay nagbigay-daan sa pagtalima sa kurikulum, habang pinasisigla ang pagiging malikhain ng mga mag-aaral kasabay ng pagpapanatili ng kanilang pakikilahok at motibasyon.

Gayunpaman, hindi ganap na nakakamit ang mga kinalabasan ng pagganap (performance outcomes) batay sa laro dahil sa iba't ibang suliranin tulad ng malalaking sukat ng klase; limitasyon sa mga kagamitan at mapagkukunan (resources); mga panggigipit sa kurikulum at pangangasiwa; kakayahan at kapabilidad ng guro; impluwensya ng mga magulang at institusyon; at kawalan ng mga pamamaraan sa pagtatasa at dokumentasyon, bukod sa iba pa.

Dahil ang mga resulta ng quantitative assessment ay nagpakita ng kapwa positibo at negatibong kinalabasan sa mga aktibidad ng play-based learning, dapat pagbutihin at patatagin ng paaralan ang mga aspeto ng pagsusuri (analysis), pagdidisenyo (design), at pagbuo (development) sa balangkas ng ADDIE upang makalikha ng mas mabisang pagkatuto sa pamamagitan ng paglalaro sa loob ng silid-aralan. Kabilang dito ang pagbabawas ng sukat ng mga klase, pagbibigay ng mga kagamitan at ligtas na lugar para sa paglalaro, pagpapahusay sa pagsasanay ng mga guro, pagbabalanse ng oras para sa akademiko at paglalaro, pagtatatag ng mas awtentikong mga estratehiya sa pagtatasa, pagsali sa mga magulang sa proseso, at pagpapatibay ng suporta sa patakaran at pananaliksik.
