Abstract (English)

The understanding of bamboo in structural design is limited, especially in structural reliability. As knowledge and research increase, the present standards of bamboo can be advanced to match the understanding of this sustainable material. In this paper, the First Order Reliability Method (FORM), a probabilistic technique, is employed to calibrate the partial safety factors of structural bamboo, specifically Bambusa blumeana, an abundant species in the Philippines. Earlier research has established the characteristic strength of Bambusa blumeana, in bending, compression, and shear. Therefore, to leverage this advantage, statistical tests were performed using the Anderson-Darling goodness of fit test to characterize the probability distribution of the above-mentioned strengths. After the data have been statistically characterized, the Rackwitz-Fiessler transformation is utilized to transform random variables that are not normally distributed into normal equivalents. From here, safety factors are calculated from the limit state function. The values are 1.5981, 1.4015, and 1.7274 for bending, compression, and shear. The calculated safety factors are compared to the existing safety factors in ISO 22156:2021. Graphs were provided for the variation of the partial safety factor to the reliability index.

Limitado lang ang pagkakaunawa sa kawayan may kinalaman sa desinyong istruktural lalo na sa structural reliability. Habang lumalawak ang kaalaman at pananaliksik, ang mga kasalukuyang mga pamantayan sa kawayan ay maaring pasulungin upang tumugma sa pagkakaunawa sa likas na materyal na ito. Ginamit ng pagaaral na ito ang First Order Reliability Method (FORM), isang probabilistikong pamamaraan upang suriin ang partial safety factors ng istruktural na kawayan, partikular sa Bambusa blumeana, isang saganang uri ng kawayan sa Pilipinas. May mga naunang pagsasaliksik na nakapagtatag ng charateristic strength ng Bambusa blumeana, sa bending, compression, at shear.  Gamit ang bentaheng ito, gumamit ng estatistikong pagsusuri partikular ang Anderson-Darling goodness of fit test upang matukoy ang probability distribution ng mga nasabing kalakasan ng kawayan. Matapos suriin ang mga statistical parameters, ginamit ang Rackwitz-Fiessler transformation upang isalin ang mga random variables na hindi normally distributed tungo sa katumbas nitong normal. Mula rito, nakalkula ang mga partial safety factor gamit ang limit state function. Ang mga nakalkula ay 1.5981 para sa bending, 1.4015 para sa compression, at 1.7274 para shear. Ikimumpara rin ang mga resulta sa kasalukuyang safety factors sa ISO 22156:2021. May mga grap na inilagay upang makita ang pagbabago ng partial safety factor sa reliability index.
