Abstract (English)
This paper focuses on developing a streamlined material procurement process to enhance efficiency in tower construction projects at Power Check Enterprises. As a new vendor in the telecommunications industry during the pandemic, the company faced various challenges. Common issues such as inefficient material procurement, inaccurate cost and quantity estimations, and the absence of standardized procedures were identified by the intern, all of which were found to contribute to project delays. These insights were derived from actual data collected and documented across 52 sites constructed during the practicum.
A root cause analysis was carried out to investigate these critical concerns, through which significant inefficiencies were revealed. The Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) methodology was employed to design a streamlined procurement process intended to ensure accurate material documentation, efficient inventory management, and improved coordination among departments. It was found that supplier lead times, market unavailability, and flawed material requisition processes collectively contributed to delays of up to fourteen days per site.
Implementing a structured and streamlined system for material requisition and budget requests can significantly enhance procurement efficiency, reduce delays, and improve overall project execution within the telecommunications sector.
