Abstract (English)
The tragedy of mothers and daughters is that they mirror each other. The Anamorphosis of Love: Stories contributes to the genre and tradition of feminist magical realism in the Philippines by using magic as a means of disrupting the daughter’s static image of the mother as they walk into womanhood in a patriarchal society. This creative writing project contains three short stories from the perspective of three different generations of women, all connected by a magical mirror that reveals a reframed memory from their past or their future, that then reshapes their present. These stories present mothers and daughters as not just references but also as inversions and subversions of each other. Ultimately, The Anamorphosis of Love: Stories is a work that will ask how to love and be loved, as mothers and daughters do.
