Abstract (English)

Pia Amparo and The Wishgranter is a novella written in the genre of speculative fiction. It contains elements of action, adventure, and fantasy stories written into its narrative. It is written in dedication to the dearly beloved grandmother of the author as he grapples with mortality and death. The author seeks to capture the essence of his grandmother and put it into writing and, as a result, grant immortality to her. This project also serves as an attempt by the author to grapple with mortality, the anxieties of the unpredictability of death, and time running out. The story is set in a speculative fiction, urban fantasy Philippines where law enforcement officers are called tanods and wield melee weapons and metal armor, and a mythical artifact exists that has the ability to grant wishes. It takes inspiration from films like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Coco, focusing on the themes of death, mortality, and family. It tells the story of Pia Amparo, a headstrong young tanod who finds out about her grandmother’s illness and goes on an adventure to find a magical being to cure her.

Ang Pia Amparo and The Wishgranter ay isang speculative fiction na nobela. Ito ay nilalaman ng mga elemento ng aksyon, pakikipagsapalaran, at pantasya na isinama sa salaysay. Sinulat ng awtor ang nobela na ito bilang isang dedikasyon sa kanyang minamahal na lola habang hinaharap niya ang kamatayan ng kanyang lola. Ang hangarin ng awtor ay makunan niya ang kakangata ng kanyang lola at ilagyan sa pagsulat para makamit siya ng inmortalidad. Ang proyekto na ito ay maglilingkod din ng pagtatangka ng awtor para makatanggap siya sa katotohanan ng kamatayan at ang pagiging hindi tiyak nito. Ang kwentong ito ay nagaganap sa isang Pilipinas na may elementong speculative fiction at urban fantasy, kung saan ang mga pulis ay tinatawag na tanod at gumagamit ng mga espada at bakal na baluti. Mayroon din ng isang mahiwagang artepakto na kayang magkaloob ng mga pagnanais ng tao. Nakukuha ito ng inspirasyon sa mga pelikula tulad ng Puss in Boots: The Last Wish at Coco, at tumutuon sa mga tema ng kamatayan at pamilya. Ang istorya ay tumutuon kay Pia, isang matigas na ulo na babae na nagtatrabaho bilang isang tanod. Noong nalaman niya ng sakit ng kanyang lola, pupunta siya sa isang pakikipagsapalaran para mahanap niya ng isang mahiwagang tao para gamutin niya ang kanyang lola.
