Abstract/Summary

Entrepreneurship is a catalyst of the Philippine economy as most business establishments comprise micro, small, and medium enterprises. Entrepreneurship also creates networks of jobs beneficial for the national economy, many of which were greatly affected by the global Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the importance of studying the factors that might affect the entrepreneurial intention to help in boosting entrepreneurship. The purpose of this research was to determine the impacts of the antecedents of entrepreneurial motivation, self-efficacy, attitude, and COVID-19 pandemic perception on the entrepreneurial intention of business students. A total of 391 business students from De La Salle University, Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, and University of the Philippines responded to the survey through Google Forms. A list of questionnaires was adapted as scaling instruments to gather data.

Using the multiple regression analysis, the researchers were able to find out that social norms, entrepreneurial education, self-efficacy, and attitude had a significant impact on the entrepreneurial intention of the business students. Results also revealed that the effects of locus of control and COVID-19 pandemic perception on entrepreneurial intention were deemed to be insignificant. Apart from this, the proposed model was also determined to be stable after conducting two model validation methods namely, holdout validation and k-fold validation using the caret package in R. Consequently, the researchers provided possible recommendations to its identified beneficiaries based on these research findings.
