Abstract (English)

This thesis examined the consequences of negligent use of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI (Gen-AI). IBM defined generative AI as artificial intelligence capable of creating original material in response to a user’s command. The 2026 ASEAN Digital Outlook presented that more than 70% of both Filipino educators and students were using generative AI tools, but as made evident by the fact that fewer than half of the educators in the study were uncertain about their institution’s AI policies, there is still a concerning gap between AI usage, AI literacy, and AI policymaking in the Philippines.

This piece of media was a result of a research-and-film-based approach. The researchers collected qualitative data from people in the field of journalism to ensure that the work, though fictional, remains grounded in reality and reflects current practices. Furthermore, the technology featured in the film is based on existing Gen-AI tools of today (including but not limited to ChatGPT, Gemini, grok, etc.), which are capable of creating original images and videos of real people.

In the 20-minute short film entitled Visor, the filmmakers highlighted the potential risks of overly relying on and recklessly using Gen-AI through the career of a young mobile journalist named Enzo. Fueled by envy of his colleague, Enzo turns to an AI tool called Visor, which can generate a digital avatar of its user. The film investigated the dangers of his haphazard use of innovative technologies for efficiency's sake. The film was shot in S-Log 2 picture profile in XAVC S and in Flat picture profile in MP4 format.
