Abstract (English)
The study provided a perspective on elderly workers who continued to serve marginalized communities despite the limitations of aging. It explored themes of physical and emotional exhaustion brought about by aging, as well as how they navigated these challenges. Ultimately, the thesis underscored the essential processes of service, dignity in aging, and the cyclical nature of care within Filipino families and communities.
The documentary film “Matanda Na Ako” featured two elderly caretakers: Nanay Efeigenia “Fe” Limbago Leong, the head coordinator, and Nanay Erlinda “Nanay Linda” Vergara, the cook, of the Coalition of Services of the Elderly (COSE) Group Home for the Abandoned Elderly. Their responsibilities as coordinator and cook played a vital role in caring for the residents of the home. Additionally, the film examined their perspectives as elderly workers, emphasizing the personal reasons that drove them to continue providing care for their fellow residents.
This documentary was produced and filmed over a period of four months. It included a series of interviews from community members and representatives to gain insight into their personal experiences and their overall well-being while serving the residents. The participants were: (1) Nanay Fe, head coordinator; (2) Nanay Linda, cook; (3) the residents; and (4) Ms. Rochelle Agualin, COSE representative.
The project was filmed and produced in S-Log 3 picture profile in XAVC S, and Flat picture profile in MOV format. These formats were employed to maintain high resolution for post-production. Finally, the film aimed to evoke empathy from viewers, encouraging them to reflect on and recognize the often-overlooked contributions of compassionate elderly volunteers such as Nanay Fe and Nanay Linda.

Nilayon ng pag-aaral na ito na magbigay pananaw hinggil sa mga matandang tagapangalaga na patuloy na naglilingkod sa mga nasa laylayan ng lipunan sa kabila ng kanilang edad. Tinuklas nito ang mga tema na may kinalaman sa pisikal at emosyonal na pagkapagod na dulot ng pagtanda, gayundin kung paano nila hinarap ang mga hamong ito. Binigyang-diin ng tesis ang mahahalagang proseso ng paglilingkod sa komunidad, ang dignidad sa pagtanda, at ang tradisyonal na konsepto ng pag-aaruga para sa pamilya sa kultura ng Pilipino at ng komunidad.
Ang “Matanda na Ako” ay isang maikling dokumentaryong nagtampok kina Nanay Efeigenia “Fe” Limbago Leong, ang Head Coordinator, at si Nanay “Nanay Linda” Vergara, ang tagapagluto, ng Coalition of Services of the Elderly (COSE) Group Home for the Abandoned Elderly. Ang kanilang mga tungkulin bilang tagapag-ugnay at tagapagluto ay itinuring na mahalagang bahagi ng pangangalaga sa mga residente ng Group Home. Bukod dito, sinuri ng pelikula ang kanilang mga pananaw bilang matandang tagapangalaga, na nagbigay-diin ang kanilang mga personal na dahilan upang patuloy na mag-silbi sa residente ng Group Home.
Ang dokumentaryong ito ay isinapelikula sa loob ng apat na buwan. Kabilang dito ang serye ng mga panayam sa mga miyembro ng komunidad at mga kinatawan upang makakuha ng mas malalim na pag-unawa sa kanilang mga karanasan at kabuuang kalagayan habang naglilingkod sa mga residente. Kabilang sa mga kalahok sina: (1) Nanay Fe, punong tagapag-ugnay; (2) Nanay Linda, tagapagluto; (3) ang mga residente; at (4) Gng. Rochelle Agualin, kinatawan ng COSE.
Ang proyekto ay kinunan at nilikha sa S-Log 3 picture profile na XAVC S pormat, at sa pamamagitan ng flat picture profile na MOV pormat. Pinili ang mga sumusunod na pormat upang mapanatili ang mataas na kalidad para sa pag-eedit. Sa huli, ang pelikula ay nag-nais na pukawin ang empatiya ng mga manonood, hikayatin silang magnilay at bigyang-pansin ang mga pagsusumikap ng mga matatandang manggagawa tulad na lamang nina Nanay Fe at Nanay Linda.
