Abstract/Summary

LikSi: An informative website advocating for the ethical use of artificial intelligence within the Filipino graphic design community serves as an interactive platform that highlights the complexities and possibilities arising from the interface between human designers and creative AI tools. LikSi showcases a variety of real-world examples and practical applications where AI is used not merely as a tool, but as a collaborative partner in enhancing the ideation and production processes in visual communication, specifically within the context of the Philippine Creative Industries.

The first section of the website, Spotlight, contains seven (7) original articles, each featuring a local graphic designer that the proponents interviewed to share the works they have created using AI tools, how they responsibly utilize these tools, and the impact that AI has on their careers. These articles are supplemented by audio snippets and quotations from the interviews to enhance the user experience.

The second section, Statutes, features three (3) original articles explaining landmark court cases involving AI-generated art and copyright issues from around the world to help educate users on the current discourse surrounding AI and Intellectual Property Rights laws. An interview with a Philippine cyber law expert is included to provide insights on how the country’s

laws can adapt to the rapid emergence of AI and how designers can protect their works from copyright infringement. Users are also provided with links to three (3) major graphic design communities to help them network.

The last section, Transform, showcases nine (9) short videos that the proponents produced and edited from the tips and tutorials created by the featured local graphic designers, using a variety of design software with integrated AI tools to enhance their creative works. Each video is intended to cater to different competency levels and is accompanied by a step-by-step process to help users follow along.

Through this website, the proponents hope users will be enlightened on the opportunities, threats, and ethical considerations faced by Filipino graphic designers amidst the rapid and growing acceptance of the use of creative AI in the workplace.
