Abstract/Summary

The school's employment of good teachers is an ever-increasing need, since there is a continuous increase of enrollment as observe in almost all the school of the country particularly those under RVM management. To meet this need for good teachers, there is a necessity of an instrument that maps out the procedures for teacher selection of a potential good teacher. The purpose of this paper then is to determine the correlation of the Teacher's Entrance with the efficiency rating in both the elementary and high school teachers of the RVM schools in Metro-Manila. This study was undertaken to formulate a systematic procedure for the selection of teachers. Hypotheses tested are: 1) There is no relationship between the Teaching Aptitude Tests and the Efficiency Rating. 2) There is no relationship between the SRA Verbal Tests and the Efficiency Rating. 3) That the Entrance Tests namely the TAT and the SRA Verbal Tests combined are not correlated with the ER.

The researcher made use of the descriptive survey. A sample of one hundred teachers, were taken out of 200 from three RVM schools in Metro Manila. The study utilized the data on the Mental Ability (SRA Verbal) and the Teaching Aptitude Tests (TAT) and the efficiency ratings of one hundred teachers in three RVM schools in Metro Manila.

The guidance counselors provided the data on the entrance tests and the principals gave the efficiency ratings. The names of these 100 teachers were coded. The ratings were in percentage scale while the test results were taken on raw scores.

In the light of the finding of this study, the hypothesis that the Teaching aptitude test is related to efficiency rating, obtained the result 218, which is significant at the .05 level. The second hypothesis that SRA Verbal test is related to the ER, obtained the results 219 also significant at the .05 level. The third hypothesis that the entrance test, both TAT and SRA are correlated with the Efficiency Rating, obtained the result 226 and is significant at .05 level. This obtained r: .218, .219 and .226 shows that the Entrance Test can be an indicator of the Efficiency Rating measured by the principal but slightly and almost negligible correlation.
