Abstract/Summary
This paper discusses the improvement in reducing the impact of employee movement in Unilever Philippines Research and Development Home Care Team. Employee movement can be defined as either known or unforeseen. On both circumstances, these situations create a very stressful moment in functional service delivery (Efficiency and Effectivity) and human resource management.
In this paper, an action research project was done completing two full action research cycles with the main objective of improving the handover process and manage the impact of employee movement within the Home Care Research and Development Deploy Unit in Unilever Philippines.
Moreover, frameworks on Employee Engagement and Knowledge Management were utilized to aid the researchers in executing this project. It was also shown how the methods of action research were applied in collaboration with the team to identify and derive action plans such as improving Key Performance Indices Discussions to ensure that employee plans and goals are well captured and achieve a common understanding between the manager and its employees. As the cycle goes along, it was identified to further improve on the knowledge management retention and transfer within the team by developing a database that can store important historical information, files and documents using the OneDrive as the main tool.
As a result, the team came up with a better process in handling employee movement by planning for our individual career goals and aspirations. In addition to this, using a knowledge management database via OneDrive as tool also allowed us to manage unforeseen employee movement by making handover process more structured and accessible. Furthermore, additional cycles can be done which can focus on mentorship and succession planning.
