Abstract/Summary
The purpose of this study was to ascertain the quality of teacher's teaching practices as perceived by students of Mt. Carmel High School of Polillo in the school year 1977-1978. Three questions were raised in this study: 1) What is the perception of the students on the teachers' teaching practices of Mt. Carmel High School? 2) Do students of one year level perceive teachers' teaching practices differently from another year level? 3) To what extent do students of different year levels agree in the ranking of teachers' teaching practices according to categories? The data for this study were gathered through a questionnaire which was adapted form Kendel Tang's Teacher Behavior Inventory (TBI). The 200 respondents were taken from a total population of 460 students enrolled at Mt. Carmel High School in the school year 1977-1978. After tallying the responses, two sets of means were determined : 1) mean of teaching practices according to year levels, 2) mean of teaching practices per teacher according to categories. Then, hypotheses in the study were tested by means of the F-test using the analysis of variance and Kendall's Coefficient of Concordance. This was supplemented by the use of Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient to determine the relationship between pairs of categories.
