Abstract/Summary

This action research addressed the issue of having an ineffective intranet facility in PH Bank, a savings bank, where I serve as the head of Public Relations and Corporate Communications Division. The existing intranet facility, called Info channel, had to be enhanced for a more effective communication flow within our organization. My colleagues and I used the iQual model as the conceptual framework to examine and improve the quality of our intranet facility. The first cycle of this action research initially established a quick win solution through the enhancement of the Pop-up window feature of our intranet. Meanwhile, second cycle focused on the introduction of an internal social media platform called Workplace, which was created by Facebook, to allow employees to better communicate, collaborate, and get immediate feedback from other members of our organization, and for our management to effectively cascade its messages to employees and vice versa.
