Abstract/Summary

This research paper is primarily undertaken to look into the role of the Catholic secondary school principals in the area of administrative and supervisory management as perceived by the high school teachers. Seventy-five high school teachers in the nine Catholic secondary schools in Ilocos Norte and Laoag City were requested to rate their respective principals on their expected and actual administrative and supervisory management roles. This was conducted through the questionnaire prepared and distributed by the researcher. Three questions were raised in this study : 1) Is there a significant relationship between the principals actual and expected administrative management role as perceived by the teachers? 2) Is there a significant relationship between the principals actual and expected supervisory management role as perceived by the teachers? 3) Is there a significant difference between the principals actual and expected management role (administrative and supervisory) as perceived by teachers? For statistical treatment of the data gathered, the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Method was chosen to determine the numerical correlation (r) between the two variables. On the other hand, to test the significance of the difference between the expected and the actual total management role (administrative and supervisory together) of the principal, the t-test for difference in means was used.
