Abstract/Summary

The school as an organization has a specific reason for existing, a goal or purpose. And because it has this characteristic of attempting to reach a goal, it becomes important to measure how well it is doing. The result is an emphasis on performance. The school therefore, faces special problems of controlling the behavior of their members, because they must make sure that behavior is in line with the requirements of performance. The Industrial Engineering School, at Nongkhaem, Bangkok, Thailand is such that organization. It cannot rely on an informal control system based on one individual influencing another or rely on compliance coming essentially from the fact that members are completely committed to the aims of the organization. It needs to have a formal system of controlling what goes on in it and also the rewards and penalties of a clear and specific kind to ensure compliance from the members. The school does not have a properly organized and written guideline for the members of the academic community for continued improvement and to keep reminding the administrators of what is expected of each of them regarding their duties and their responsibilities. To remedy this need, the writer attempts to put into writing the basic guidelines, policies and procedures for the academic community to help them adjust to the environment so that they may perform their duties more efficiently and effectively. Most of the general information used in the study is based on first hand knowledge about the school by the researcher. For detailed and up to date information, the researcher relied mainly on data supplied by the school director and the school manager. Based on the data gathered, an administrative manual is proposed. This administrative faculty manual for the Industrial Engineering School at Nongkhaem, Bangkok, Thailand contains such guidelines for the administrators and faculty members in order to assist them in realizing their individual rights, duties and responsibilities so that they can achieve their institutional goals.
