Abstract/Summary

The present study primarily aims to evaluate the early learning abilities of St. La Salle Preschool students and identify the specific factors that contribute to their academic performance. These include family background, home environment and school environment based on the microsystem ecological theory of Bronfenbrenner. Its analytical framework is quantitative and descriptive in nature, utilizing primary data collection approach through the administration of the two research instruments namely ECERS-R and BSSI-3, and a face-to-face interview using a well-structured survey questionnaire. Participants were mainly composed of prep students, aged 5 to 6 years old, male and female enrolled in St. La Salle Preschool. The results revealed that the St. La Salle Preschool environment allows positive interaction among children and teachers. In terms of family background, despite the lack of financial resources needed to support the learning needs of their children, parents remain actively involved with their childrens studies and were positive about their future. As a matter of fact, parents have a high level of awareness in their childrens scholastic activities. In general, the overall performance of the children across all areas of learning abilities was average.
