Abstract/Summary

The conflict that the Prelature Superintendent has to deal with involving hostilities between the teachers and parents on the one hand, and the principal on the other, is presented in this case study. The teachers and parents complained that they were manipulated and fooled by the principal of St. Lucy Academy. The teachers accused the principal for habitual absenteeism, gross negligence of duty, misused of school funds, withholding of salaries and illegal contributions. The teachers threatened to resign if the principal would not be removed from her position. The principal, on the other hand, denied the accusations and hurled back accusations against the teachers. Sister Aurora Pintas, the Prelature Superintendent could not make up her mind. If she removes the principal from her job, the school might face a legal suit for no sufficient evidence to support the charges against the principal. If she keeps the principal of the school, the teachers will resign and these teachers are the assets of the school. The parents will surely transfer their children to the public school. On the other hand, the name and prestige of the school was at stake. Either the teachers or the principal will be removed, the school will be branded as unjust and unfair. Hence, the Prelate Superintendent's problem of what to do, the option to take, and the decision to make.
