Abstract/Summary

This research project attempts to come up with a local version of a standardized achievement test in SEDP Mathematics III.The study utilizes the descriptive-developmental type of research using series of interviews, as well as consultations, with knowledgeable or authority figures in the field of Test Construction and Mathematics. It further utilizes statistical analyses in the process of instrument development and validation. The test covered the first semester subject matter (from Exponents to Quadratic Equations) only. An initial item pool of 200 was pretested in a public high school in Intramuros, Manila. A sample of 148 subjects took part in the pretesting stage. Item analyses (item difficulty, item discrimination, and plausibility of distractors) yielded 45 acceptable items (p=0.11 to 0.72, Di=0.20 and above) which comprise the final form.
