Abstract/Summary

The descriptive survey method was utilized in this study. The Child Youth Research Center Filipino Adolescents Students Value Seals was administered to 200 sophomore high school students with both living parents (200 mothers and 200 fathers) and 22 teacher-advisers of the same year level from Pedro Guevarra Memorial High School, Santa Cruz, Laguna. The student respondents were randomly selected from twenty-two (22) sections. The gathered data were analyzed with the use of descriptive and inferential statistics, such as mean scores, analysis of variance, and Pearson's Coefficient of Correlation. From the findings of the study the following conclusions were formulated: 1. The family is still considered an important unit of society based on the preference of the respondents for Family Solidarity. 2. Parents exert the greater influence than teachers in their children's value formation especially on Respect for Tradition, Respect for Authority, Social Acceptance, Economic Security. 3. Respect for Authority and Economic Security are functions of place of origin and family size. 4. Adolescents included in this study tend to uphold values common to Filipino youth. These results will help a lot in the implementation of Values Education in the Secondary Level, through stressing more on the positive values.
