Abstract/Summary
Telephony today is already migrating from analog telephony to IP based telephony. This paper presents a design of a PC-based PABX system for De La Salle University-Manila that combines a traditional PBX system and Voice-over-IP. A discussion of a small-scale pilot implementation of the proposed system is also given. An eight step methodology was used to carry out the assessment of needs in an academic environment and the type of system to be designed. This included a study for determining weather the current resources are ready for IP telephony and if not, for defining the things that can be done to have a successful VolP deployment.
