Abstract/Summary
This study aimed to test a new model investigating various organizational dimensions, namely occupational burnout, organizational commitment, perceived organizational support, and counterproductive work behavior. Referencing the Three Component Model of organizational commitment and organizational support theory, the study’s hypotheses revolved around organizational commitment having a material effect on the likelihood of counterproductive work behavior, while also taking into account the related factors of burnout and organizational support to evaluate whether these would have any significant influence over the aforementioned relationship. The final number of respondents for the study was two hundred and twenty-six (226) working adults from various organizations in the telecommunications, shared services, business process outsourcing, and healthcare industries within Metro Manila in the Philippines. Using the convenience and snowball sampling techniques, as well as various permutations of correlational and linear regression analysis, the results corroborated similar findings by other researchers that organizational commitment influenced the likelihood of counterproductive work behavior, as well as presented an original contribution to extant literature through the validation of a second stage moderated mediation model.
