Abstract/Summary
A taxonomic study of phytoplankton was conducted in Bantigue Pt., Tayabas Bay, San Juan, Batangas. A total of 33 species were collected, identified, and classified. The specimens collected belong to 2 divisions, 2 classes, 3 orders, 11 families, and 18 genera. Divisions Chrysophyta was represented by Bacteriastrum sp., Bellerochea sp., Biddulphia sp., Ditylum sp., Chaetoceros sp., Coscinodiscus sp., Leptocylindrus sp., Rhizosolenia sp., Skeletonema sp., Fragilaria sp., Thalassionema sp., Thalassiothrix sp., Amphora sp., Bacillaria sp., Nitzschia sp., and Striatella sp. Division Pyrrophyta was represented by Peridinium sp. and Ceratium sp.The average values for water temperature were found to range from 27.96-29.85 degrees celcius salinity, 31.35-32.59 ppt. pH, 7.91-8.12 units nitrate, 0.0145-0.0443 mg/1 and phosphate, 0.0044-0.0191 mg/l.
