Abstract/Summary

A Brown Energy Resources Development Inc. (ABERDI) is a manufacturing company that operates palm oil nurseries and pre-nurseries and produces crude palm oil (CPO). Their mission is to provide good quality CPO.

The study is centered on the company's palm fruit extraction process which starts from sterilization to CPO storage and is evaluated by the volume and quality of outputs and effectivity and efficiency of the production line.

After conducting a SWOT analysis and proceeding to a WOT-SURG analysis it was identified that ABERDIs CPO production rate was below its effective production rate by almost 40% for the year 2013.

The problem was finally drilled down to its root cause using the why-why method coupled with a Pareto analysis to determine prioritizations in problem solving which involves over-all improvements on the production line in terms of equipment, processes and supplementary processes that would ensure productions comes close to the lines effective capacity.

A proposal was developed at the end which will help the company avoid computed annual opportunity loss of Php33,489,191.80 which will cost the company Php3,184,539 on the first year.
