Abstract/Summary
This study aims to develop a mathematical model correlating concentration of the reactants to temperature in a certain reaction, with respect to time. The experiment involves the use of the test reactants, Sodium Thiosulfate and Hydrogen Peroxide, in a laboratory scale Back mix flow reactor otherwise knows as the Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR).The study includes the gathering of data, process identification by least squares method and converting the discrete difference equation to a continuous differential equation.The parameters (a, b, and c) of the difference equation that was resulted from the given data was observed to be in the range of 0 to 1.5, and by getting the minimum square of the error by the Least Squares Method, it was found out that the process is a second order difference equation. Employing z-Transforms, the discrete transfer function could be converted to a continuous transfer function, and a mathematical model has been developed, likewise the objective of the experiment fulfilled.
