Abstract/Summary
Classrooms provide a venue for students to learn. In line with this, the environment inside the classroom should be maintained in order for it to be conducive to learning. The temperature inside the classroom must be maintained to a suitable level in order for the students to feel comfortable. The luminance is also a factor to be considered so that the students using the classroom would see the lectures clearly. Another important factor in classrooms is energy conservation. Nowadays, energy is a valuable commodity. By saving an ample amount of energy would in turn not only save monetary denomination but sustain the future as well.
The system is capable of maintaining and controlling the classroom facilities namely the air-conditioners and the lighting equipment. A temperature sensor is used to diagnose the state of the air-conditioners and maintain the temperature level inside the classroom. The lighting equipments are diagnosed using a current sensor, this will in turn maintain the equipments as well. The equipments inside the classroom are also controlled by a base computer. The turning on and off of equipments is dependent on a database of schedules which is embedded in the base computer. The classroom stations communicate with each other and the base station wirelessly.
