Abstract/Summary
A urine analysis survey was conducted on one hundred thirty-four (134) children aged 4-12 in Barangay Sapang Bayan, Calumpit, Bulacan to screen for the presence of urinary tract infection (UTI). Examination included the physical, chemical, microscopic and microbial constituents. Before collecting the urine samples, medical histories were taken thru a questionnaires. Out of the 134 urine samples examined, 8 (5.97%) had abnormal urine color, 38 (28.36%) were turbid but none were found to have abnormal pH and specific gravity. No traces of glucose were found in any sample while 42 (31.34%) were positive for albumin. Abnormal number of WBC were counted in 23 (17.16%) urine samples. Only 2 of 134 (1.49%) showed high colony count. Both are indicative of UTI.
