Abstract/Summary

The study attempted to come up with an information system, which eliminates the problems, brought about by redundant procedures in paperwork and file management of public elementary schools. The information system that was developed was based from the immediate needs of the school. These were determined through the survey questionnaires that were distributed to several school personnel, and administration of different schools. Interviews were also conducted with the heads of the different functions of the school such as the guidance councilors, the grade chairmen, the teachers, librarians, property custodians, and the administrators. They were responsible for the enrollment procedures, personnel monitoring, handling of the grades of the students, supplies monitoring, library management, and the overall maintenance of the school system. The information gathered were further studied so as to arrive with the subsystems of public elementary schools that are necessary to be computerized. The study show up that the, Enrollment, Pupil, Personnel, Supplies, and Library Systems of public elementary schools are the essential functions of the school that is in need of computerization. These systems help school operations and transactions be done faster and made record easier and more systematic. The school personnel and the faculty likewise benefit from the new system. However, some recommendations are presented by the proponents for improving the system. These include networking and other additional (features of the system such as the School Property Monitoring System, which helps the property custodian to keep track of all school properties including non-consumable supplies such as the school equipment and buildings.
